Bac de Roda Metro Station

A large hole allows you to see the trains on the platform and to hear the presence of the trains when they arrive at the station. The platforms have a metal vault to protect possible leaks, the shape of which is different from the structural vault. It starts from arcs of great curvature in the centre, the radius of which increases until it reaches the ends of the station, becoming completely horizontal lines. This double curvature warped surface allows a receptive space in the centre of the platform and a good connection with the horizontal ends, avoiding the difficult solution of the spandrels of station vaults with other smaller vaults or horizontal platforms.

This vault is made of metal, as are the claddings of the vertical walls from which the vault starts. The other vertical planes behind the bench are placed in the background to avoid the graffiti being in the foreground and to give more transverse depth to the station.

These changes in the vertical plane are used to locate the ventilation ducts and the Continuous lighting located by the bench.

The paving of the platforms is of 60X40 light terrazzo with longitudinal joints of stainless steel handrails, the steps at the front are of galvanised sheet metal and all the handrails are of stainless steel.
