Benidorm's seafront promenade, a new place of transition between the built-up city and the natural space of the sea and the beach. The promenade is not understood as a border-edge but as an intermediate space that permeates this transition.

It is structured as a place with a rich topography, as a dynamic space that allows the walk and the viewpoint over the sea, but also organises different areas for contemplation. The promenade collects the longitudinal and transversal flows of the different circulations and channels them, allowing convenient access to the beach. It eliminates architectural barriers by allowing direct access from the car park. The promenade thus becomes an architectural site that shapes a new topography and plays with light and shadow. A set of sinuous braided lines that establish the different spaces and adopt different natural and organic forms, recalling the fractal structure of a cliff, as well as the movement of the waves and the tides.

The promenade is structured in different layers: a first structural layer builds the border line finished in white concrete; another layer of textures with paving in different colours and a last layer that forms the urban furniture, the natural elements - water, vegetation... - all of them building a homogeneous place with its own personality and predecessor of the new architecture of the 21st century, by bringing together constructive technology and nature as a single concept.

Benidorm's new promenade is proposed as a new form that integrates the artificial built and the natural. The project brings together different essences in the organic forms of modernism, the fractal geometric forms of nature, the latest building technologies, as well as the avant-garde of landscaping. It is not random, but arises from the establishment of certain laws, a geometric parti and a modulation. In this way, a construction logic is established, facilitating its modulation into parts. The beach partially invades areas previously occupied by the old promenade, increasing the area of sand and reducing the area of asphalt.

All the functional aspects are included: promenade, stay, viewpoint, transition to the beach, architectural barriers, direct access to the car park, rainwater collectors, beach lighting, road communication, integration of urban furniture, service infrastructures, etc. From the sea it builds a new façade facilitating the view of the sea and the beach from the high level of the promenade and establishes a new limit, integrating the different circulations in its folds and platforms, eliminating a barrier and building a place for people.
