The new Botanical Garden is being built on the northern slope of Montjuïc mountain, between the stadium and the castle, at an altitude of 150 m above sea level. It extends over an area of some 14 hectares, which, due to its size, will constitute one of the largest green spaces in the city of Barcelona.

The relief is varied: there are slopes of more than 50 m and the whole forms a large amphitheatre facing south-west and open to the Llobregat valley, from which you can see the Olympic Ring and a great view of the city and the Collcerola mountain range.

The project proposes the use of a triangular mesh as the fundamental structure, which allows diversification of orientations with minimal earthworks; it also facilitates the creation of local micro climates that allow the vegetation units to be distributed according to their ecological needs and the orientation of the perspectives at each point in the garden.

The order of the garden is established by interrelating the mosaics (plants) with the transepts (sections) according to the criteria provided by nature.
