Can a project in the city be planned without considering its impact on the urban scale? How can a project be generic and yet local? We like projects to be able to recognise the arrhythmia of cities, to be able to decide whether to affirm or vary their rhythm. Perhaps, if we are able to discover the existing urban laws, we will be able to make the project belong more to the category of formless processes than to the group of finished objects. We want, of course, to intervene; but we also want to be invisible.

In the Hotel Ciutat d'Igualada, as in many other fragments of the city developed through different growth processes, the dividing walls along the promenade are the only real planning element present. The hotel proposes to enter, chameleon-like, to form part of this varied repetition of dividing walls along the pass that structures the city.
