El Tanque, cultural space

The physical and functional possibilities of these large minimalist volumes have made it possible to incorporate one of them into the city as a landmark cultural space and exhibition hall. The reuse project has been based on preserving the simplest aspect of the tank, with the aim of showing the exemplary nature of a singular piece of an industrial nature. The plans of the project aim to resolve the need for access in an elementary way, with a constructive quality that is typical of a temporary work. The volume is understood as a complement to the monumental character of the complex without substantially disturbing its basic image.

The construction of a semi-buried concrete vestibule where the existing walls are used, both the one at the base of the tank and the one dividing the plots, the pavement being a gentle ramp that leads to the depressed access ramp under the tank.

In the foyer there is a small route where information about the companies Cabildo and Cepsa will be given, and small public toilets and an information point from where all the electrical points of the site can be operated. The dimensions of this cylindrical piece allow different artistic events to take place, offering the city an unusual multifunctional space for cultural activities.
