Housing in Los Bermejales

Other mandatory premises such as alignment, buildability, programme, etc. condition the creation of an inner courtyard on the plot.

The response given by the Project aims to reconvert this courtyard. It is a constant feature of our housing projects: treating the interior space (residual in H-block and similar typologies) as a unifying element and as a relationship between the dwellings that make up the building. For this purpose, there is a single access from the outside which leads directly into the courtyard; stairs and lifts start from the courtyard. This is covered with a translucent glass canopy, with an awning underneath it to shade it from the sun. The light penetrating through the vertical clothes lines is filtered by louvres. The climate helps in these decisions, and the result is close to the customary spaces and forms of Sevillian residential buildings in which the courtyard represents the transition from public and private life.

On the upper floors, the dwellings are arranged in two concentric rings.

The construction and materials are traditional. Exposed brick skirtings and rendered walls between aluminium profiles.
