Park Güell was a real estate operation of 60 houses for the Barcelona bourgeoisie that failed which the City Council bought it and turned it into a public park in 1922. The park has never seen its architecture change. Since the 1920s, only occasional repairs and retouches have been carried out.

The vegetation has changed and grown and no longer offers to the eye that sparse and stony image of slopes and ravines; immobile and permanent vegetation, pruned in stone. An architectural and abstract garden; rocky nature, sculpted bare mountain, quarry of stony vegetation.

The Hypostyle Hall is a Greek-style temple of exaggerated Doric capitals with a dented cupola roof supporting an earthen square with an undulating bank-border; a border of wave-crested acroteria with crustaceans embedded in them, bringing the sea of the horizon closer to the bare mountain.

Repair of structural elements in poor condition; waterproofing of the roof and construction of an effective drainage system; reconstruction of artificial stone cladding on column shafts, capitals and architrave; replacement of tiles on lintels, domes and perimeter bench.
