Jardí de les Eres

Small garden square, behind the church of Sant Francesc, the old Town Hall and the old Civil Guard barracks, opposite the old cemetery and next to single-storey houses. The first historical complex on the island, of honest modesty.

The organisation has been entrusted to the existing stone walls and new walls organising enclosures with benches. At night the walls become reflectors for the spotlights embedded in the pavement. The subsoil rock has been cleaned and repaired and has been preserved as a pavement.

The vegetation of prickly pears, junipers and mastic trees that has been planted in the large planters, which form the stone walls, will need little water. The trees are fig trees. All are vernacular species that will blend into the distant landscape. The fig trees will be made to grow horizontally, raised with the help of sticks (stolons), which will give them the appearance of plant temples like those offered by the oldest ones in the island's fields (fig trees have grown very little so far, something will have to be proposed in this respect).
