The two branches of the "V" embrace a courtyard open to the west, treated as a garden with a pond and a fountain, a meeting place and rest area that provides a habitable oasis in the arid plateau of La Mancha. The vertex where the two arms of the building meet forms a void that serves both as a entrance hall and an assembly hall, a transcription of those wide doorways or entrance halls of La Mancha houses, equipped with enough bulrush chairs to allow for a certain social life in the current of fresh air between the street and the yard in good weather.

The construction is based on the traditional La Mancha style of rammed earth walls, wooden beams and sloping roofs of Arabic tiles, although its details are full of ingenious devices by the architect, such as the vertical wooden slats that regulate the light in the classrooms and act as a protective enclosure, or the saw-tooth metal structure ceilings in the entrance hall, which are covered with light, curved panels that form an undulating ceiling, which can be partly opened by means of folding panels that allow the room to be darkened when projections are to be shown.
