The museum project began with the search for a place where the presence of water in natural conditions would be favoured. The chosen space is located at the entrance to the Sierra Nevada natural park, next to the river Lanjarón and an irrigation ditch that borders some old buildings used as a municipal slaughterhouse.

Given the limited means available, the intervention consisted of recycling and reusing some of the elements of the surroundings. The slaughterhouse buildings, for example, have been adapted as a museum, and the water routes of the irrigation channel and the river have been incorporated into the new facilities through a simple system of interconnected water sheets.

In front of the complex, a square of orange trees is slightly raised off the ground, with stacked concrete prefabricated elements and eucalyptus trunks of different sizes that are temporarily flooded with water from the irrigation channel, creating a space with a different appearance throughout the day. The entrance occupies the courtyard of the old slaughterhouse with a new wooden construction. This pavilion houses a representative space dedicated to water and becomes a landmark of the landscape.
