The competition rules imposed the division of the complex into four nuclei: teaching, work, recreation and management. The requirements also included ease of extension, elasticity of floor plan, technical rigour, luminosity, etc., and constructive economy.

The teaching, work and management nuclei have been brought together in a group, with the recreation nucleus being separated from them by the sports fields, although there is a porch linking the two facilities.

In a building with a floor area of nearly 4,000 square metres, it was essential to choose the correct roofing system. In this case, a single 7 x 3.50 m.module has been adopted, which stems from the size of the 10.50 X 7 m standard class. This module is repeated in the whole assembly, and is built with 3PN of 7 m and wooden purlins of 3.50 m, supported on the lower flange of the joist.

The roofing material is uralite, using vitrofil as insulation, and perforated tablex for the ceiling. This system offers easy extension of halls, relative standardisation of elements and, above all, economy.

A characteristic feature of the Institute is the search for the sun, for which it is rotated with respect to the Florida promenade, orienting its axes with the heliothermic axis. The orientations are: Classes, at noon. Laboratories and workshops, to the north. Library, north. The assembly hall is intended to have a more lively character, with daily use complementary to the foyer and even for covered recreation, which is why its roof has high windows facing south, staggered in depth.

The same solution is found in the canteen or club at the recreation centre. All this produces a certain complexity of roofs within the constructive modulation.

The heating, an economically interesting point, is solved with hot air supplied by ducts under the floor and a simplified suction network; a small boiler for heating in successive zones.

The rooffinials, eaves, etc. of the roof were made by combining pieces of uralite that are available on the market.

The total surface area is 3,605.25 square metres, and the updated budget is 5,658,893.40 pesetas, which gives a price per square metre of 1,569.60 pesetas.

As a complement to the Institute, a group of 12 teachers' housing units has been built on the grounds of the Institute.

They were designed with a criterion of independence for each one, with a small private front garden.

They offer the same modulation and roof system and the same rotation, seeking maximum sunlight.
