We want to make "the most beautiful building" for the Museum of the Memory of Andalusia in Granada. The MA. A museum that wants to transmit the whole history of Andalusia. Already in Roman times, Strabo described the inhabitants of Andalusia as "the most cultured of the Iberians, who have laws in verse".

Our project for the MA is a building in line with the Headquarters of the Caja Granada Savings Bank which we completed in 2001. We propose a podium building of 60 x 120 metres and three storeys high, so that its upper floor coincides with the podium of the main Caja Granada building. And its façade too. Everything is organised around a central, elliptical-shaped courtyard, in which circular ramps rise up to connect the three levels and create a very interesting spatial tension. The dimensions of the elliptical courtyard are taken from the courtyard of the Palace of Charles V in the Alhambra.

And to crown it all, as if it were a City Gate, there is a strong vertical piece, the same height and width as the main Caja Granada building. It thus appears in front of the motorway that surrounds Granada like a screen-façade that sends messages on the large plasma screens that will cover it completely. Like Piccadilly Circus in London or Times Square in New York.

And to finish the whole operation, a large horizontal platform down to the river, the open museum that will serve as a public space in this new area of the city of Granada. The new building, silent in its forms, is emphatic in its elements to communicate the messages of the new millennium in which we are already immersed.
