NGO Fundesplai Classroom

The project of the Fundació Catalana de l'Esplai and its location in the conflictive neighbourhood of San Cosme, in Baix Llobregat, began with the construction of its administrative headquarters, a first hostel and sports pavilion and some training spaces.

It is a project that has a social inclusion purpose, environmental preservation objectives and a clear sustainable will. Its immense social work focuses on families in situations of marginalisation and especially on the children belonging to these families, to whom it offers stays in holiday camps distributed in natural enclaves in different parts of Catalonia. It also builds shelters, classrooms about natural habitat, soup kitchens and catering for schools.

Now, it has begun the building of complementary facilities next to its main headquarters, multifunctional and sports halls, the extension of the initial hostel to 450 places, as well as a large training classroom, a debate agora and the planning of a museum "del Demà" (of Tomorrow) which will deal with the field of "sustainable nutrition, the fight against climate change, social inclusion and all those phenomena that disturb the future of our society".

Among these new facilities, and now that their construction is complete, we present the new lecture hall and the space for meetings and debates An elliptical agora, like the one drawn by Hypatia of Alexandria in the 5th century, as a geometrical place in which the sum of the distances from each point to the foci always remains constant. Thus, a place for training and debate is born. The lecture hall is related to the other buildings in the group, forming a Mediterranean cloister garden, flanked by a water park that will show the water route from the Baix Llobregat to the sea, thus complementing the initial facilities, a group at the service of people, especially children.
