Pedestrian footbridge in Vallparadís Park

This is the origin of its special railing with light and sound. The bridge spans a clear span of 90 metres and has a width of 2.70 metres and an edge of only 28 cm (L/286). It has a central deflection of 1.67 metres (L/48) and a difference in level between the starting points of the side of 1.80 metres.

This project is part of the wide range of interventions being carried out around the monumental complex of the churches of Sant Pere. All of them are arranged on the basis of the guidelines set out in the Master Plan for the complex.

"The first bridges provided by man to overcome long spans followed the shape of the Catenary, the typology of the suspension bridge. Even today, when it is necessary to overcome a large span, the only possible scheme is that of the suspension bridge: San Francisco, Lisbon,..."

The materials have evolved: first vines, then ropes, then chains, and finally cables; the scheme has remained unchanged.
