This is an area that has been subject to important actions throughout the history of the city, ranging from the primitive establishment of a Muslim fortress in the 11th century and the subsequent conversion of this enclosure into a mint, to its residential transformation from the 14th century onwards. A structure with unique morphological qualities is thus configured to be preserved and even enhanced, eliminating those fragments of the fabric that currently play a negative role on the structure of the block, maintaining, as far as possible, the morphological and stylistic values of the whole.

An inner core based on the primitive Mint and an epithelium formed by the perimeter streets connects the block with the rest of the city. This is the opinion of those who drafted the Mint Special Plan, which, on the other hand, could be extrapolated to a large part of the Historic Centre of the City Wall.

The new headquarters of Previsión Española tries to join the architectural heritage of Seville without fuss, without attracting attention, aware of the gravity of acting in an environment where the aura of such an important construction as the Torre del Oro makes itself felt. To be respectful of the city, to be able to be in Seville, implies, on the one hand, integration into the layout, and on the other, the adaptation of the scale. The problem appears, in all its crudeness, when respect is sought by avoiding a dubious mimesis whose results do not always escape the forced incoherence in which those who confuse ends and means move; in architecture it is not so easy to avoid congruence between the two. The formal structure of the new headquarters of Previsión Española is not very different, in size and proportions, from that of so many public buildings in Seville.
