Tribuna Pública was born of a crosscutting spirit, from the local administration, cultural institutions and citizens, as a social and cultural activation device whose general objective was to create an open space for reflection and debate on the future of the historic port lands of the city of A Coruña.

This active, collective platform had a diverse programme of activities, from political debates to workshops, conferences, cinema, concerts, scientific experimentation laboratories, etc., with four main themes: urbanism, science and environment, memory and cultural action. Its location in the square of the old tobacco factory close to the waterfront, the fish market, etc., give this enclave a profound symbolic and identity component.

The proposal arises from our veiled perception of the port. From our imaginary we bring together all the elements of our memory that link us to the port, generating a permeable space for the citizens as opposed to its current opacity.

Due to the temporary nature of the installation, dismountable and reusable elements are used, such as scaffolding structures: a matrix capable of accommodating multiple uses over the months. It manifests as a volume made of a dense spatial mesh, on top of which an interior gabled roofed void is created. It is covered on the outside with a net, which outlines the volume, but reveals its inner structure. Tribuna Pública was an ephemeral, open, diverse, spoken, experiential, transformed and thought-out structure.
