The Sol (Puerta del Sol) station is the result of a large and complex underground engineering project carried out by the Technical Services of the Ministry of Public Works.

The "platform cavern" is noteworthy: 207 m long, 20 m wide and 15 m high, where there is a transit platform, a mezzanine for passenger access and egress. This partial architectural design intervention is completed by the museography of the ruins of the church of Buen Suceso (19th century).
