The project consisted of adapting an old factory as a meeting room and multi-purpose hall for the Institut de Tecnologia de la Construcció de Catalunya (ITEC). The premises were supported by orderly succession of eleven reinforced concrete portal frames, each consisting of four pillars marking three bays running the entire length of the building, from the street to the centre of the inner courtyard of the block.

The project was conceived as a game of minimums, without camouflaging what already existed and harnessing and highlighting everything considered positive, which was almost everything. The most important decision was to create a courtyard with adjustable louvres to control the sun and light to replace part of the old roof. Large vertical mirrors covered one of its corners, creating a trompe l'oeil effect that visually quadrupled the space.

To ensure the versatility of the multi-purpose area, the most obtrusive pillars were removed. The movable chairs and platforms could easily be arranged in different layouts by following coloured markings painted on the wooden floor. These overlapping graphics were reminiscent of playing fields where several sports are played alternately.
