Based on two prior conditions, a limited budget and the need to conserve the physical structure and character of the existing dwelling, the project seeks to maximise the choice of materials, construction systems and, above all, ensure precision when defining the few architectural elements with which to achieve a maximum of supply and spatial quality.

There are two basic points, the entry of light, in contrast to the previous dim conditions typical of these buildings, and the control of space in terms of perceptive, dimension and functional flexibility.

The project essentially consists of two operations based on the original stone box. One is the elevation of the roof to allow light and sunlight in, and the other is the addition of a room built with a light enclosure, where the specific programme is located, contrasting with the bold presence of the stone wall. From a construction standpoint, technical resolution criteria typical of industrialised elements have been perfectly integrated into the rural environment using an artisan self-construction system.
