A library, by its use and content, is par excellence one of the paradigms in which to recognise the evolutions and transformations of cultural change. And the architecture that represents it must assume, and even make evident, all these realities if it wants more than just an aesthetic experience.

The project is the repetition of three 36 x 83 platforms separated by 5 m in height. The main part of the programme was spread over each of them: the ground floor as a place for the exchange of information; the first floor, used simultaneously and without differences in use, as a reading room, sound library and video library, and the third floor to house the Regional Library.

The architecture of each floor did not seek to formalise itself in any prior definition, thus guaranteeing the versatility of its use: the aim was to provide the programme of each floor with a law, a certain form of order that would allow us to speak of activities without the need to associate them with enclosures and that would allow us to speak of uses without the need for their differences to imply compartmentalisation.

So far, the cultural conditions, the cultural data on which the project was developed and which are what make a project a work of reference and make it a real experience because of its "objectivity", because of its generality. The rest, the architecture of the project, the light, the forms of the space or the figures that represent it is something that, being capital, is what really distinguishes what is architecture from what is not.
