Telephone exchange and teleport

The programme envisaged the construction of a building to house a reception area, a small museum, an exhibition hall, a small bar, a series of representative offices, the teleport with all its technological complexity and a control area. The heterogeneity of the content, the frequent changes that took place during the implementation of the programme, the accelerated replacement of old technologies with new ones and considerations about the site led to fragmenting the construction into several relatively independent buildings and linking them together by means of a series of walls, cloisters, viewpoints, ponds and gardens that accompanied the routes and defined and qualified a close environment that was intended to be friendly in the face of the distant and hostile.

Of all that was planned, only the control area and the teleport were built, so that the general idea of the project was never explained in reality. The large antenna tower became the geometric and neuralgic centre of the technical building, a square building surrounded by a perimeter corridor that gave access to the different rooms and through which they received natural light. Generous ceilings and numerous vertical ducts ensured the free passage of cables both vertically and horizontally.
