The Llobregat Delta is home to a number of protected natural spaces and, in particular, to wetlands considered to be the third most important in Catalonia due to their biological characteristics and extent. The main topographical characteristic of the wetlands of the deltaic plains is their flatness and therefore the absence of overhanging features from which to observe the territory and its habitats.

The lookout tower over the wetlands of the Llobregat Delta was designed in 1993 to achieve this view. It is a circular tower around a spiral staircase, which, with a structure of radial porticoes, supports a circular balcony next to the staircase at a height of 3.20 m. The tower has a spiral staircase and a circular balcony. It is constructed from bolondo wood to ensure stability, durability and low maintenance in the corrosive marine climate.

Over the years, towers have been built at strategic points in the wetlands of the Llobregat Delta. There are five lookout towers installed, two at the mouth of the Llobregat river, one at the Prat beach next to the La Roberta lagoon, another at the Remolar lagoon and another at the outlet to the sea of the Sant Climent stream in Viladecans
