The client asked us for a hotel project in Albeida, a beautiful corner of the Muros and Noya estuary: nine free-standing, new-build accommodation units to complement the refurbishment of four traditional buildings.

The powerful history of these constructions - until yesterday Rodrigo Romaní's residence and recording studio - and of the built territory, determined and enriched the approach to the project from various levels of approximation. The first, through the cross-section, provides the first lines with the mouth of the river Tambre in the foreground. In the second, the approach continues with the precise definition of the new buildings.

The light wooden structures rest on the ground to clear the tree roots, with which they intermingle naturally. Arbitrary boundaries are erased and the natural and the artificial enter into a dialogue that builds on the past, is grounded in the present and projected into the future.
