The area where the library is being built is the Parc d'Esplanes, on the outskirts of Palafolls, a place of great natural value, to the south, the presence of agricultural land and the delta of the river Tordela; and to the west, a river park.

The idea of the project was to blend the new intervention into the existing landscape and, at the same time, to singularise this space with a close relationship to the surrounding nature. The library is about 700 square metres, labyrinthically divided into areas for adults, children, press conference room, relaxation areas, storage spaces and toilets.

Through a non-linear succession of gardens and dividing walls, the outdoor park filters into the various indoor areas. The library is thus presented as a large classroom, in which natural light enters from many different directions, in close contact with the courtyards, whose low walls, while protecting the visitor, do not block the view of the surroundings.
