Evangelical Church in Terrassa

The building, which occupies a third of the site and is located in its lowest part with access from Avenida Béjar, combines religious uses - it holds worship every Sunday morning - with social uses, thanks to an agreement with the Town Hall.

The complex takes the form of a large base which gradually decreases in height due to the slope of the terrain, formed by steel plates as a cladding and as a fence over which two bodies are suspended. In a central and larger position, a modulated aristocratic cube covered with a new material of recycled, pressed and injected aluminium rises up, which, thanks to its shine, gives an emblematic character to the piece that houses the worship room inside. The other body of lesser height and close to Tramuntana street is suspended and cantilevers out. In this case the edges frame planes of corrugated and perforated aluminium that act as a lattice as a second skin for a nursery programme. While the façade on Avenida Béjar is presented as a tense, rigorous and continuous plane that hides its access, the two lateral façades show their friendlier side where the vegetation masks a fence that acts as a second façade in such a way that the plane of the glass is set back from the limit of the plot and thus all the perimeter spaces enjoy light and ventilation, and privacy and security.
