Since the most remote times, man has buried himself, giving meaning to two actions: on the one hand the return of our matter to nature, maintaining with architecture and its ruin the distinction of the human, and on the other hand the search for the horizon, whether real or abstract, be it the line of the sea, the distant mountains or a pure geometric figure that suggests to us the limits of infinity.
The old cemetery, with its unique enclosure, expressed an idea of totality and therefore of time standing still. In the extension we propose a relationship between the visitor and the cemetery that is structured along the route, so that in each fragment of this path different relationships are established. Some will be with the horizon, others with places of welcome, peace and meditation.

It is an approach to the cemetery as a set of fragments to be traversed with memory and oblivion. They speak to us of a way of understanding linear time, made up of traces or moments, like the recollections of memory. It also allows small individual actions (each burial) to be added little by little, without distorting the common project, which is always unfinished.

You do not enter the new cemetery, but have to climb up to it, like an ancient burial mound. The ascent of this Sacred Mountain begins once you cross the lake below the shady entrance and ends at the top overlooking the mountains of the Sierra de Gata. On the outside, only the white perimeter wall appears, crowned by a continuous piece of earthy concrete, while on the inside it is the earthy character of the concrete that appears on the entire surface of the walls, except for the white tombstone hollows, as if carved out of an old rock.
The niche burial structure forms a grid of horizontally elongated rectangles. This grid helps the landscape design of the cemetery and, above all, is more in keeping with the idea of a recumbent person.
