First there was the INDUSTRIAL revolution and now we are immersed in the DIGITAL revolution. Between 1900-1950 the cathedrals of architecture were built: they were the factories, with technological and structural advances that created workspaces. Now, in the information age, architecture has to be a technological platform, where what matters are bits, connectivity, new materials, nanotechnology and the ability to provide a solution to a global environmental remediation.

This is the Media-ICT Architecture, a place where SOFT becomes HARD. We were convinced from the outset that the commission was consistent with our ideas. We are interested in the digital city model, where what counts is knowledge, information, patents, communication and added value. A knowledge model capable of going beyond the material resources model. and in our architecture, what are our Media?

Structure, light, space, technology, energy and intelligence applied to materials and management. The connections are more important than the weight of the materials. It is an electronic, immaterial world, in which what matters is the drawing of the network and not gravity.

The CLOUD 9 Media-TIC project is a digital architecture, built through digital CAD-CAM processes. The Media-ICT facades do not explain serial industrial construction, but evolve and explain digital construction, the construction of information. A contemporary construction that allows for a very complex façade. Unlike most buildings, which consume enormous amounts of energy, the Media-ICT is designed to be a large generator and at the same time to optimise its use.
