The project involves the creation of a new square in the historic centre of Horcajo de Santiago (Cuenca), on the site of a school built in the 1960s, which involved an obvious aggression to the church due to its proximity, design and scale.

The incorporation of 1000 m2 of public space in a strategic location in the historic centre, next to the Casa de la Cadena, close to the Town Hall and the Casa de la Cultura and freeing the church of La Concepción from the obvious harassment it suffered from the impact of the extraordinary volume of the teaching building, has meant an improvement in the urban scene and the creation of a new space for public enjoyment.

The project also incorporates a small pavilion for socio-cultural use and a small parish centre, which solves the problem of the party wall caused by the demolition of the aforementioned school.

The scale of the new socio-cultural and parish building and its fragmented volumes dialogue with the surrounding constructions and are arranged to form the urban space in two different areas with different qualifications for their use.

Tree alignments help to shape it.

The recovered space has, however, a unitary character.

The limestone cobblestones and the terraced areas share the austere treatment, devoid of rhetoric, with minimal street furniture.
