The path

View gallery

The strategy of this project is to generate paths in an environment where diverse heritage values, whether historical, scenic or botanical, come together.

The main intention is to build a path to a point from which other spontaneous paths can emerge, to build the minimum to generate interest and different perceptions, and thus to understand all the dimensions of the place: visual, acoustic, olfactory? This end point of the path, which is also the start of others, is marked by a cubic stone bench and a metal handrail to protect visitors in wheelchairs.

Recycling

Héctor Santos-Díez

The first element proposed was the strict use of recycled materials, basically slabs and paving stones that had been lifted and rejected in other cities and stored in a nearby warehouse, which we used to make all the paving for the project.

Accessibility

In this place of important heritage value, given that the natural environment has a markedly irregular topography, we proposed that the path should be accompanied by a handrail to assist the movement of people with disabilities, so that all residents could participate in this environment of identity importance, regardless of their autonomy and mobility.

O Banco - Héctor Santos-Díez

"Que din os rumorosos?" is the expression, based on the poem "Os Pinos" by Eduardo Pondal and origin of the Galician hymn, which has been engraved on the handrail for disabled people and which marks the end of the path. "¿Qué din os rumorosos na costa verdecente?" is the full sentence, which means: "What do the Galician people say?
