The site has inspired a building of great formal simplicity; it has an image that sits naturally between the nucleus formed by the Alcazaba and the Roman Bridge and the delivery square of Santiago Calatrava's bridge.

The abstract, linear appearance provides the precise ambiguity between the two urban enclaves at their extremes. The building overlooks a large part of the city from the other side of the Guadiana River. So even though the site extends longitudinally parallel to the river, the building is oriented transversally to respond to this distant view.

Its glazed interior planes make lighting possible. The rest of the blind wall reaffirms its formal purity. The building is extended to form a whole with the citadel, thus creating a large urban façade on the river's edge.
