Cadiz, the oldest city in the West, has always had its eyes open to the sea. More often than not, "the sea of times", its buildings were raised above themselves and their lookout towers, today the archetypal image of the city, were raised to look out over the sea. In this case it offered a privileged location, facing the western horizon of the ocean where the sun sets in a different colour at each sunset. At the very edge of the beach in continuity with the powerful, whitewashed walls of the marine cemetery of Cádiz. And between the sea and the place a road. And a light of unstoppable intensity seeping in everywhere.

The building stands in front of the water, across the road, with a huge white wall in which eyes are carved out to look at the horizon. Its most public spaces, the foyer, library and cafeteria, open up to the landscape and the light through these two tall, large openings.

The foyer is tensioned by a diagonal light that connects the deep vertical gap over the sea with a precise open hole in the deck on the opposite wall. The main staircase leads to the elevated platform that materialises a free plane floating above the infinite Atlantic framed by this deep hollow. The library and the cafeteria incorporate this beautiful panoramic view through the other double opening, which is perforated at its highest and deepest point to allow the sun's rays to shine through. The solid light cast emerges from the shadows of the great white wall, setting everything in vibration. Inside the building, the white courtyard, an abyss of clarity, acts as an articulating mechanism for the corridors and classrooms, and is arranged with four upright palm trees that underline its square geometry.
