No longer being required for the purposes for which it was designed: collecting water for human consumption, a watering place for animals, public laundry and irrigation pond, this unique piece of the Community's architectural heritage was in a terrible condition.

Although it is not feasible to recover any of its functions other than irrigation, the site can nevertheless be restored for use as a meeting place for the inhabitants of the municipality for leisure and enjoyment.

The aim of the project was to restore the architectural complex, creating a  public space integrated in the surroundings, with benches and trees, recovering the old promenade between the fountain and Colmenar de Oreja town centre.
