Yacht Club L'Estartit

L'Estartit is a coastal enclave located at the northern end of the bay of Pals, on the Girona stretch of the Costa Brava. Situated in front of the Medas Islands,  an area renowned for its rich and beautiful underwater wildlife, the harbor enjoys extensive mooring facilities for recreation and sports craft, making it a key departure point for sea journeys. It is also the home port of a small fishing fleet.

The building attempts to integrate with the urban context through its radial layout and with the harbour through a balance between solids and voids. In this setting, facing the sea, the building appears on the edge of a platform used as a car park, ending and separating it from the moorings , while at the same time opening out towards the harbour.

The building, placed at the corner of this platform, is organised in two pavilions that create a pedestrian promenade along the water's edge. Of these two pavilions, the main one, which has a triangular floor plan and houses the club's offices, lounges, the small nautical library and the bar, faces southwest, oriented towards the mornings. It is organised longitudinally and hosts the different services related to navigation.

José Hevia

Both pavilions have an independent roof, sloping towards the ground in such a way that when combined with the layout of their respective planes of different dimensions, this duality is clearly contrasted at the intersection of the two volumes. To reinforce this duality, at the intersection of the two elements there is a perforation or void which, acting as a large window, selects the views of the sea as seen from the seafront promenade.
