CIPE Costume Museum

Rather than a traditional museum, it was conceived as a centre for the dissemination of contemporary art, a flexible space for temporary exhibitions in modular terms and therefore variable and expandable and even dismountable and reusable in all its parts. Landscaping is integrated into the site through the treatment of the adjacent vegetation and gardens and elegantly bridges the unevenness of the terrain.

It is conceived as a building with the access floor totally liberated and raised on piles that housed the library-auditorium and classrooms, with a large temporary exhibition hall that would share all the virtues of flexibility and adaptability programmed for the building. In the centre is the office tower, which would house artistic research seminars and workshops where grant-aided artists could work.

All the spaces incorporate a system of natural lighting that was pioneering for its time, with both zenithal and façade lighting. The enclosures operate with triple glazing to address acoustic, thermal and ultraviolet radiation insulation problems, or, when lighting is not required, with bronze anodised sheet metal.
