The project for this electrical assembly industry operates in the landscape of Don Benito by overcoming its anodyne context, relying on three strategies that generate a lexicon of its own:

The building takes over the site, occupying the entire square perimeter and freeing up an interior, controllable and private manoeuvring yard, the size of which is dictated by the turning radius - 15 m - of large lorries. Inside, the ring-shaped circulation generates a sequence of concatenated spaces that allow the entire building to be traversed continuously.

Displaced geometries

The displacement of the courtyard - 30 x 30 m - with respect to the centre of the larger square - 45 x 45 m - makes it possible to generate two bay widths: one of 6 m where the administration and office programmes are located, and another of 9 m that houses the industrial areas, creating an attractive play of symmetries and asymmetries that resolve the building's functional programme. In section, the extrusion of four 10 m high volumes rotated in a swastika shape generates industrial battlements, the interior of which houses a sequence of free-standing heights and mezzanines.

Industrial vernacular

The structure, made of metal porticoes, is covered with galvanised steel mini-wave sheeting, a clear allusion to the local context that makes it possible to define both the interior and exterior of the building with a single material, generating a striking play of brightness and contrasts. Hermetic to the exterior, the skilful solution of the openings, like abstract offset rectangular cut-outs, resolves solar control by means of the die-cutting of the sheet metal itself and blurs the scale of the construction, displaying a balanced economy of means in the execution of the details.
