The XIII Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism aims to show recognition to the "appearance in the present", the productions of our predictions, which include our visionary statements, speeches, visual projects, photographs, press articles, illustrations, poetry, interviews, opinions, manifestos, projects, utopias, historical events..., everything that is Architecture.

We are witnessing a significant change in the way we work. The two basic traditional elements have been transformed: the authorship and the work, which previously could only be a built project and is now open to other activities. We have collected and rewarded all kinds of forecasts, predictions and productions: from the clearest to the least obvious. Finding them has required an understanding not only of the specific idea, but also of its context. [...]

In this 13th edition of the Biennial, 449 projects of the most heterogeneous nature have been presented, understanding the choice of Alternatives (from the Latin alternatus, adjective: "What is said, done or happens with alternation. In activities of any genre, especially cultural ones, which differ from the commonly accepted official models) as an idea that perfectly encompasses the projects received, which differ from the "official" models. We have also tried to find and reward the other "projects", those that make it possible to build a heterodox heritage. Thus, in the selection of the prize winners, two clear groupings of works appear: those before and those during. It is time that makes the difference between them: those that began with a prosperous and abundant panorama, and those that have been developed and built up over the years, adapting to the new socio-economic conditions.
