On a narrow, elongated plot, where there is already a house, it is proposed to build a small studio that can be used both as a painting studio and as an occasional weekend home for the owners' children.

The starting point of the project was the economic aspect; it had to be an economically viable project with a minimum budget (70,000 euros). This factor limited both the structural and finishing possibilities, so we started from a very clear premise: we had to work with the industrialists of the area (if possible, from the same village), and with technical solutions to which they were accustomed; traditional solutions adopted in the typical constructions of the area.

This premise led us to work with load-bearing walls, one-way slabs, aluminium windows of reasonable dimensions and conventional finishes, such as painted render. From there, the studio-dwelling, of about 90 m2, is divided into two distinct sectors: an open and diaphanous space that opens to the outside through a cane porch, and a more intimate space with two bedrooms and a small bathroom. The entire programme is set within a perimeter of load-bearing walls with a span of slightly more than 6 metres.

The open-plan space contains a living room, dining room and kitchen. This space is designed to maximise its surface area over the total, so that the heart of the house, the space where most of the daily functions are carried out, is as pleasant as possible. The rooms, on the other hand, are understood as basic spaces, with the minimum space sufficient to sleep and have a small table.
