The project is on the northern edge of the historic quarter of Pamplona next to the promenade along the edge of the walled enclosure. And it is linked to a strategy of urban renewal, social regeneration and intervention of the existing heritage, claiming the public projection and social commitment of urban planning and architecture. The new building, which occupies the site of a pre-existing building, was to top the block and face an urban void on the wall, together with the definition of a semi-private passageway that made the initiative feasible.

The programme consisted basically of the construction of six housing units for the relocation of six families and, therefore, with six different programmes, as well as ground floor premises to rebuild the commercial activity of the area. Architecturally, beyond the organisational issues and the work in section linked to habitation and others such as attention to scale, fragmentation, composition and the shaping of pieces, etc., the project has to do with the idea of giving continuity to what used to happen there, to its memory, reformulating the everyday life of this place from a contemporary perspective, and avoiding losing the knowledge that tradition has brought to our hands.  It has to do with trapping the project in the textures of the place, with the use of the usual materials, but in a new time.

It has to do with the capacity of the new matter to integrate itself by generating parallels with the pre-existing without denying its new outlines. It has to do with coexisting by adapting, from its dry outline, to the "speed of time" of what is already present. It has to do with a sustainable form of intervention. It has to do, in short, with the intention of leaving the project within a correlation of events in time, of what has happened there, understanding that our activity is part of a chain. An architecture that only aims to add to its surroundings and its inhabitants.
