2014 FAD

Among the 381 works submitted in this call for entries, the jury selected a total of 60 proposals. All of the selected works move away from the cult of the object and rigorously pay attention to the place and its conditioning factors. In all the works there is a commitment to reflection, perhaps as a result of less production. In any case, this return to the disciplinary values of the profession brings us closer to a social and service ethic - not a servile one - and to a greater coherence between means and ends. This selection has to be understood as an exemplary and optimistic response to the difficulty and triviality of the present times. 

INTERVENCIONES EFÍMERAS (EPHEMERAL INTERVENTIONS) Art, landscape, architecture and design are present in this work where the metaphor succeeds in bringing back to life what was already imagined to be finished, the jury awards the FAD Award for Ephemeral Interventions to WILD FURNITURE - THE AUTHENTIC BARCELONA CHAIR by RENÉ MÜLLER/ ARIANE PATOUT

CITY and LANDSCAPE For a landscape strategy achieved through a strong social commitment in which architecture acts as a link between two hitherto isolated realities, the jury awards the FAD Prize for City and Landscape to EL VALLE TRENZADO, PHASE 1B by GRUPO ARANEA

INTERIORISM A project full of risk and experimentation in the domestic sphere, where the construction of poetry is sought in an almost scientific way, in total coherence with its trajectory, the jury awards the FAD Interior Design Award to CASA ENTREMURS by RCR ARANDA PIGEM VILALTA ARQUITECTES

ARQUITECTURE The jury makes two special mentions: To the work Estudio Arranz-Bravo by Garcés-de Seta-Bonet Arquitectes for their intelligent dialogue with the existing architecture and their clear implantation in the landscape AND to the work Casa Chao by Creus e Carrasco Arquitectos for their decisive urban response and their wise and restrained interpretation of the traditional architectures of the environment And decides to award the 2014 FAD Architecture Award to PERCURSO PEDONAL ASSISTIDO DA BAIXA AO CASTELO DE SÃO JORGE in LISBOA by JOÃO PEDRO FALCÃO DE CAMPOS If it is true that the programme of this project deserves applause, taking into account its transforming capacity and the resources available, the result of this public work is even more remarkable, capable of synthesising the virtues of rehabilitation and technique, the result of important research work and great sensitivity.''
