Technification Centre for physical-sports and leisure activities in the natural environment of the Tagus Basin.

The project is structured on the basis of a ring geometry, two concentric circles between which the entire programmatic diversity of the centre and its facilities are linked. This ring is adapted to the legal limits set by the non-floodable elevation -387 metres-. This perfect geometrical shape preserves the entire landscape of the peninsula to be preserved on the inside; it is a magic circle: on the outside it provides all the action, activities and movement; on the inside, rest, observation and reflection.

The ring helps to create a suitable environment, is as respectful as possible to the site, avoiding visual and physical barriers and integrating itself within a setting of great environmental and landscape value with the greatest possible neutrality. It rises above ground level, floating above it, with hardly any modification to the topography, reducing the points of contact with the terrain to a minimum, communicating and visually linking the interior and exterior of the ring. The visual differentiation between indoors and outdoors is produced by a shadow line under the building, which varies throughout the day. Between the ring and the ground, in this shaded strip, a series of open-air spaces are created, but sheltered by the ring, spaces for activity and rehearsal.

On the other hand, the choice of stainless steel façade material means that the building takes on the colours and light of the different seasons and times of day, dematerialising and integrating with its surroundings. The construction of the Technification Centre took five months, the work being understood more as an assembly of parts than as a construction in use, as if the building were a large meccano. This was achieved by systematising the steel structure and homogenising the construction systems throughout the project.

The Technification Centre is built as a sandwich with two floors. The lower deck is a technical deck that distributes all energies throughout the ring so that distribution is efficient, registration and maintenance is easy, and the impact on the ground is minimal, as its distribution is not based on trenches or excavations in the ground.
