FAD 2010

2010 FAD

The jury has deliberated comfortably, adding up the multiple sensibilities present and without pretending to close the field of vision in order to celebrate the different qualities of the works examined in this time of continuity and change. After examining the shortlisted works, and after extensive deliberation, the following works were declared the winners:

An exhibition that creates the illusion of traversing a city of a strange scale. Streets that narrow and then widen like a square produce a constant tension in the spectator, who is not used to similar spaces. Elegant, subtle and ingenious, the jury declared EXPOSIÇÃO WELTLITERATUR , FUNDAÇÃO CALOUSTE GULBENKIAN, LISBOA, by FRANCISCO and MANUEL AIRES MATEUS the winner in the category of Ephemeral Interventions 2010

A splendid and sophisticated topography that separates and unites two very different worlds, the colourful and busy promenade at the foot of large, vertical buildings and the white, sinuous and sheltered space of the eminently horizontal beach, the jury declared it the winner in the category of City and Landscape 2010: PROMENADE OF THE PONIENTE BEACH OF BENIDORM by CARLOS FERRATER and XAVIER MARTÍ

A happy meeting between a good assignment and a good project. Innovation in the production and marketing of cocktails and innovation in design. A fresh, dynamic and mould-breaking venue. The possibility of moving the bars from the premises to be used as catering modules gives it a very contemporary nomadic character. In short, a complete result: technology, interior design, graphic design, industrial design and a touch of ephemeral freshness, the jury declared it the winner in the Interior Design 2010 category: I+DRINK in OVIEDO by MERCHE ALCALÁ and MARION DÖNNEWEG

The Jury commends the CENTRO DE TECNIFICACIÓN DE ACTIVIDADES FÍSICO-DEPORTIVAS Y DE OCIO (PHYSICAL-SPORTS AND LEISURE ACTIVITIES TECHNIFICATION CENTRE) at the GABRIEL Y GALÁN reservoir in CÁCERES, designed by architect JOSÉ MARÍA SÁNCHEZ, for the magnificent architectural strategy to delicately install a large facility in an extremely beautiful landscape.

An exception in a territory outraged by so many developmentalist excesses. The whole forms an oasis that proposes an alternative landscape within the walls, serene, empathetic, open and confident, monolithic but articulated. An architecture in which the resolution of the disciplinary aspects contributes to obtain a result of splendid naturalness, the jury declared it the winner in the category of Architecture 2010: SECONDARY SCHOOL: RAFAL High School in ALICANTE by FRANCISCO LEIVA
