VI BEAU
An event where culture can open a debate, disseminate an ideal, transmit a current of thought, establish guidelines for conduct or simply be held to show the current trends of that activity is always welcome. This is the case of the organisation of this 6th Spanish Architecture Biennial. It was a great event and a great effort on the part of the institutions that promoted this initiative more than twelve years ago. An event that has managed to distinguish architecture, over all these years, as a creative and responsible act of international acceptance and recognition, and not only for its progress, but also for the quality contained in most of the buildings carried out by Spanish authors.
Perhaps it has been the holding of this Biennial, or other events related to the dissemination and teaching of this way of doing things, that have increased the pace of this interventionist current in recent years. From here we would not know which act was the driving force behind the activity, or whether it was all a consequence of the Universal Acts programmed by Spanish authors during the last decade of the 20th century. The truth, whether for one reason or another, is that Spanish architecture, the architecture developed in Spain in recent years, has known the definitive take-off to take its place among the noblest in the world. Spanish architecture, or its professionals, is no longer a collective that mimics others. We are growing with sufficient personality and capacity to also become a world reference in terms of the proposals that can be offered.
Manuel de las Casas Gómez - Architect, Director of the VI Biennial and President of the Jury
